Our Policy
It is the policy of Just Giants to NOT spay or neuter Giant breed dogs in our care until they are 12 months or older. The medical research shows that delaying altercation of the sex has lots of health benefits and mostly helps the proper growth and development of these dogs’ large joints! In an effort to protect our rescues we adopt dogs under 1 year on a Spay/Neuter contract and give a rebate to the adopter once we receive proof of spay/neuter.
Submission Process
To obtain reimbursement and adhere to the Adoption/Release Agreement, the dog must be spayed or neutered by the date specified in section six (6) of the Adoption/Release Agreement. The Adopter(s) can have the dog spayed or neutered by the veterinarian of their choice and then submit the receipt for reimbursement. The maximum amount for reimbursing is $150 as this is the average fee of a low-cost clinic JGRI would use. Please keep in mind, private practices may charge more than $150 for spay/neuter. JGRI only reimburses for the spay or neuter alteration. It does not reimburse for extra charges at the time of alteration, including but not limited to tacking of the stomach or nail trim.
Submit your veterinary receipt for reimbursement via Snip It Ticket Form or send to medical@justgiants.org and please include the dog’s JGRI name, and microchip number. This email/form must be sent within 90 days of the date of alteration to be eligible for reimbursement.
